The conflict between them arose after social media trolls began using their popular photo together to ridicule him.
In the photo, Ayra Starr is seen holding Jaywon's hand, seemingly to stop him from placing it around her waist. In a recent interview with News Central, Jaywon expressed his disappointment, placing the blame on Ayra Starr and her management for not addressing the trolls.
“The situation with Ayra Starr is unfortunate. We're not on good terms, and people don’t seem to understand that. What would motivate me, Jaywon, to take a picture with Ayra Starr?
“Of course, she’s a fantastic artist who has made us [Nigerians] proud, and I only wanted to support and celebrate her for her accomplishments.
“Just as many support and celebrate me. So when I see a young artist doing well, I want to join in that celebration.
“We took a picture that went viral, yet her team chose not to say anything about it. Instead, they continuously promoted the picture. Everyone is aware of the dynamics in the [music] industry. People say she didn’t comment on the image, but she saw it trending every day. Why would she not address it?
“Oh right, because that’s their approach. I don’t hold it against them; they think that by not commenting, the picture will continue trending and they seem to enjoy that. That’s fine. Everyone has their moment,” he stated.
