Primeboy threatens to sue Mohbad’s mother for defamation

Ibrahim Owodunni, known as Primeboy and a childhood friend of the late singer Mohbad, has threatened to sue Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba, for defamation.

In a statement from his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, Primeboy addressed comments made by Mohbad’s mother during an interview, in which she claimed he had a confrontation with her son prior to his death.

“In the interview, you alleged that our client frequently fought with the late Mohbad and had repeatedly expressed concerns about being neglected by him since his rise to fame. You also claimed that our client was advised to flee after Mohbad's death to avoid suspicion regarding the circumstances of that death.

“Your statements are intended to damage our client's reputation, who is an emerging star in the music industry. These allegations have adversely affected the love and support our client receives from fans and well-wishers worldwide,” the statement continued.

In a letter shared on Instagram, Primeboy has given Mohbad’s mother seven days to retract her statements, warning that he will pursue legal action if she does not comply.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances and was buried the next day. His body was subsequently exhumed for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on September 21, 2023.
