Leeds United star linked with a return to Premier League with surprise club; player desperate to leave

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has been linked with a potential move to Southampton in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to a report from Saints Marching, Bamford could join the Saints on an initial six-month loan as he seeks to revive his career after a tough spell at Elland Road. Southampton, currently struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table with just one point from their first eight matches, are urgently looking for attacking reinforcements.

With only six goals scored this season, the Saints are actively searching for ways to enhance their offensive capabilities and avoid relegation.

The 31-year-old Bamford, who is nearing the end of his contract with Leeds—set to expire in the summer of 2026—has had limited playing time under new Leeds manager Daniel Farke this season. His reduced role, along with Leeds' failure to secure promotion last season after losing to Southampton in the Championship playoff final, has fueled speculation about his future.
