EPL: Why John Stones’ winner against Wolves was not cancelled – Guardiola

 Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that John Stones’ late winner against Wolves on Sunday was upheld because there was no infringement on goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Jorgen Strand Larsen had initially given Wolves the lead, but Josko Gvardiol equalized for City before halftime.

In the dying moments of the match, Stones scored with a header past Sa, which was reviewed by VAR. Ultimately, the goal was confirmed after referee Chris Kavanagh ruled that Bernardo Silva did not interfere with Sa.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Guardiola remarked, “Of course I didn’t understand it. 

“I’m not sure why the linesman flagged it. But Bernardo [Silva] wasn’t obstructing the goalkeeper’s position. It was a challenging call at first.

“In modern football, goalkeepers often have a tough time. At that moment, [Jose] Sa had a clear view. 

“The setup from Phil [Foden] and the header from John Stones were both outstanding.”
