According to HENRYSHUSTLE, Nicki Minaj and some fans have criticized Jay-Z, who was responsible for choosing the headliner, for selecting Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne. In a video message that went viral on Friday, Wayne expressed that he holds himself accountable for not being mentally prepared for the disappointment.
Wayne said it would have been an immense honor to headline the 2025 Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans. He added that he’s working through his disappointment and trying to recover from the setback.
“That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me and I’m just trying to put myself back together,” he said.
