‘Wizkid asked me to take down our song’ – Terry G

Gabriel Oche Amanyi, widely known as Terry G, has shared that Wizkid's legal team contacted him to remove his song 'Mary Jane' from digital streaming platforms. Speaking on a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, Terry G acknowledged that he had not obtained clearance from Wizkid's team before releasing the song, which was recorded several years ago.

“I didn’t get clearance for the song I did with Wizkid ['Mary Jane'] because, during my time, we didn’t do clearances; collaborations were based on mutual respect and love. However, Wizkid’s lawyers have contacted me to take the song down,” he revealed.

“To be fair, professionalism and proper paperwork are crucial. Without them, nothing can work. Therefore, I have taken down the song. For platforms that haven’t removed it yet, I will ensure it’s taken down soon.”
