Simi joins Kenya anti-tax protests

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi, has voiced her support for the ongoing protests against tax increases in Kenya.

According to HENRYSHUSTLE, Kenyan youths are participating in widespread demonstrations under the banner ‘RejectFinanceBill2024.’

Amnesty Kenya reported that during clashes between protesters and police at the Nairobi parliament building on Tuesday, five people were fatally shot and dozens were injured.

Reacting through her X handle on Tuesday night, Simi expressed solidarity with the demonstrators. She emphasized the profound and heartbreaking nature of people fighting and sacrificing for their freedoms and rights.

Simi stated, “I stand with the people of Kenya. It is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights. Godspeed and Strength. #RejectFinanceBill2024.”

In subsequent posts, she continued, “Wow. When you’ve reached your limit, the struggle becomes almost inevitable.

“African leaders – haven’t you done enough?

“I eagerly await the day Africa ceases to be a weapon used against Africans. Despite our incredible Black power and human resources, the majority are unlikely to prosper unless they lead.”
