I’ll never again reveal my political inclinations – Toyin Abraham amid backlash over Tinubu

Toyin Abraham has made a firm decision to keep her political preferences private after facing significant criticism on social media for her support of Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Recalling her vocal endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, the actress reaffirmed her support for Tinubu in an open letter following his inauguration as Nigeria's president. Additionally, Tinubu's son, Seyi, recently assured Abraham of his loyalty to her, mirroring her support for his father.

However, Abraham encountered renewed backlash on Tuesday when a user on an undisclosed platform inquired if she would eventually disclose the plans Tinubu shared with her.

Responding to the user's query, Abraham expressed her belief in promises of good governance and happiness made to her, but she did not delve into specifics regarding the current state of governance. Instead, she questioned why she should be subjected to criticism and trolling for her political choices, citing her past experience of being bullied for supporting Jonathan and then facing criticism when Buhari was chosen.

When asked if she believed her chosen candidate had failed in governance, Abraham evaded the question and reiterated her decision to keep her political affiliations private in the future.

"I have faced challenges in my personal life and career because I am not a politician nor part of the government. I have learned from this experience and will never again openly declare my political choices," the actress concluded.
