Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed his solidarity with the ongoing strike led by labour unions, despite its adverse effects on his business operations.
The strike, initiated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), commenced on Monday to advocate for a new minimum wage for workers and a reassessment of electricity price hikes for specific consumers.
Falz revealed that he found himself stranded in Uyo due to the strike, as his return flight to Lagos was canceled due to airport closures. Additionally, he incurred financial losses associated with organizing a video shoot in Lagos, which he couldn't attend.
However, Falz emphasized his understanding of the strike's objectives and voiced his support for the labour unions' demands. In a video message shared via his Instagram account, he stated, "Despite the inconvenience it caused me, I comprehend the rationale behind the strike, and I stand in solidarity with the labour unions. In fact, this strike should have occurred sooner."
