Howard University has rescinded the honorary degree awarded to controversial American rapper and music mogul Sean Combs, also known as Diddy. The university's Board of Trustees reached this decision unanimously. The move comes in light of multiple sexual assault allegations against Diddy and the surfacing of a video depicting him assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie, in a hotel—an action deemed inconsistent with the university's core principles.
A spokesperson for Howard University informed Fox News on Friday, "The Howard University Board of Trustees unanimously voted today to accept the return of the honorary degree bestowed upon Mr. Sean Combs in 2014. This acceptance entails the revocation of all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Consequently, the Board has instructed the removal of his name from all records listing recipients of honorary degrees from Howard University."
Diddy, who attended Howard University but dropped out after two years in 1990, was conferred the honorary doctorate and served as the commencement speaker in 2014.
