Yemi Alade berates Nigerians for taking side in Afrobeat fight instead of ‘facing’ government

Yemi Alade, the renowned singer, expressed her distress over the deepening economic challenges in the nation. She highlighted the surge in fuel prices and electricity tariffs, alongside the tough environmental conditions and the overall high cost of living.

The 'Johnny' hitmaker criticized certain individuals in Nigeria who are engaging in social media disputes between celebrities instead of advocating for improved living standards from the government. Via her online platform, Alade stated: "Electricity costs and fuel prices have skyrocketed by 400%. The exchange rate of the Naira to the Dollar is highly volatile. The weather conditions have become extremely harsh.

"While people are preoccupied with mistreating one another amidst daily price hikes, salaries remain stagnant. Instead of addressing our government, some Afrobeat artists are contributing to the chaos, and yet, you're choosing sides.
