Why I regret making song about my ex – Adekunle Gold

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has expressed regret over creating a song about an ex-girlfriend who broke his heart. In his debut album ‘About 30,’ he detailed the heartbreak caused by a manipulative woman in the song ‘Damn Delilah.’

On the sixth anniversary of the album, Adekunle Gold celebrated by sharing its cover on his X handle, captioning it: “Happy 6 years Anniversary to my beautiful piece of Art. #About30.”

A fan responded by reposting the cover with the comment, “Delilah will never forget this album [laughing emoji].”

Adekunle Gold replied, “She passed. Sometimes I feel bad for making that record.”

When another fan asked for the full story, Adekunle Gold explained, “I’ve shared this story many times. I was in a relationship with a girl who secretly had a boyfriend. I was deeply in love, but she was playing me. One Saturday morning, I received a threatening call from a man telling me to stay away from his girlfriend. I immediately tried to contact her, but she had blocked me everywhere. I was devastated and wrote ‘Damn Delilah.’”
