‘Until a man has married you, he is not obligated to be responsible for you’ – BBNaija Doyin tells ladies

Big Brother Naija reality star Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, known as Doyin, has advised women not to feel entitled to their partners' money until they are married.

She explained that any financial support a man provides in a relationship outside of marriage is an act of generosity.

Doyin stressed that a man is not obligated to be financially responsible for his partner until they are married.

Doyin made these remarks in response to a female fan who sought her advice after her boyfriend broke up with her for calling him “stingy.”

Sharing the screenshot of the message on her Instagram story, Doyin wrote: “I don’t think he’s stingy because he doesn’t give you money randomly. If your man provides when you ask, you’re fortunate to have a responsible partner, but he doesn’t owe you money just because you’re his girlfriend.

“Until a man marries you, he is not obligated to be responsible for you. Anything he does is out of generosity, and you should never feel entitled to his money.

“Don’t be misled by the internet. It's great to have a man who is generous, but it’s not your birthright. There’s nothing inherently easier for a man to make money than a woman.

“It’s not easy to make money, and no one wants to keep spending it randomly. If you need money, please get a job.”
