Singer Adekunle Gold has expressed admiration for the legendary musician, Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba, as his debut solo album, ‘Face2Face,’ commemorates its 20th anniversary.
Gold hailed the project as "undeniably the blueprint for Afrobeats," emphasizing 2Baba's enduring artistic brilliance and influence that continues to inspire successive generations of musicians.
Taking to his social media handle, Adekunle Gold shared the album cover and conveyed his gratitude, saying, “God bless you, @official2baba! Two decades ago, you released a project that undeniably set the standard for Afrobeats."
He further remarked, "Your timeless creativity and impact remain a source of inspiration for musicians and fans across generations."
2Baba, formerly known as 2Face, unveiled his debut solo album, ‘Face2Face,’ on May 15, 2003, following his departure from the boy band, Plantashun Boiz.
The album, released under Kennis Music, featured standout tracks such as ‘Nfana Ibaga’ and the iconic ‘African Queen,’ which transcended regional boundaries to become emblematic of Nigerian and African music.
‘Face2Face’ stands as a seminal work in the Afrobeats genre, often cited as the archetype for debut albums within the scene.
