Teni explains why she prostrated to greet IBD Dende on plane

Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, also known as Teni, has provided an explanation for her decision to bow in respect to popular businessman and socialite Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, widely known as IBD Dende, during a recent encounter on a plane.

Teni faced criticism after sharing a video of the gesture via her X handle on Friday, with many commentators questioning her association with IBD Dende amidst smuggling allegations against him.

In response to the backlash on Sunday morning, Teni clarified that she was unaware of any criminal activities linked to IBD Dende. She recounted how he had shown her kindness back in 2014, even before she gained fame, and ever since, she has held him in high regard.

The 'Askamaya' singer emphasized her stance against criminal behavior, stating that she does not endorse it.

She expressed, "[I] first met IBD [Dende] in 2014, and he was incredibly kind to me, even before my rise to fame. Therefore, whenever I encounter him, it's always with affection.

“I genuinely had no knowledge of any criminal activities associated with him. I do not condone criminal behavior, so I trust that the legal process will proceed appropriately."
