Social justice activist and critic Charles Ogbu has asserted that Nollywood actor Yul Edochie deserves the award for the most insensitive person of 2023-2024.
Ogbu's statement came in response to a post by Yul Edochie, where he claimed that his late colleague, Junior Pope, repeatedly betrayed him despite his support during times of need.
Edochie mentioned that he chose to wait until after Junior Pope's burial to disclose how the late actor had betrayed him. He wrote on his Instagram story: "I didn’t want to say anything until after his burial. Many have asked why I wasn’t there and why I haven’t spoken about it.
"I treated him like a brother and a good friend. I was there for him when he needed me, but he repeatedly stabbed me in the back. That’s life!
"I’ll share the full details soon so others can learn from it.
"Be careful what you wish for others; it could come to you."
However, Ogbu found Edochie's remarks deeply insensitive and expressed his disapproval on his Facebook page, calling Yul's post nonsense and highly inappropriate.
He wrote: "Yul Edochie deserves the award for the most insensitive person of 2023/2024.
"Look at the nonsense he's writing about the late Junior Pope."
HENRYSHUSTLE recalls that Junior Pope died in April along with three others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a film location. He was buried last week in his hometown of Ukehe, Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
