‘Why not Isi Agu’ – Kanayo O. Kanayo defends Air Peace cabin crew uniform

"Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has supported Air Peace's choice to incorporate Igbo traditional attire, Isi Agu, as the uniform for its cabin crew operating on its London routes.

It's worth noting that during its inaugural direct flight from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to Gatwick Airport, London, on March 30, Air Peace cabin crew members adorned Isi Agu.

This move has sparked various responses, with some Nigerians questioning the airline's decision, suggesting it reflects a lack of patriotism."

In response, Kanayo criticized the detractors, asserting that Air Peace made the right decision in adopting Igbo traditional attire.

In a video message posted on his Instagram page, Kanayo remarked, "I recently watched a video of Barr. Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace, explaining the rationale behind adopting Isi Agu as the cabin crew uniform for Air Peace's London route, prompted by someone questioning, 'Why Isi Agu?'

"Why not Isi Agu? Should it have been a buba and iro or agbada for everyone to approve? Whenever something positive happens for the Igbo, hate speech is stirred up. We must put an end to this. It leads us nowhere. Isi Agu is the identity chosen by Air Peace, and it deserves respect.

"Allen Onyema and his associate, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, have contributed significantly to the aviation industry, more than the Nigerian nation has. They deserve praise, not condemnation."
