He shared that he found himself on the brink of being executed alongside others but made a solemn vow to dedicate his life to serving God if he was rescued, which indeed occurred through a miraculous turn of events.
In a recent interview with Channels TV, Buchi opened up about his involvement in various vices that led to his dire situation. Reflecting on his unconventional journey from being a nightclub DJ and university lecturer to joining church choirs, he acknowledged his past entanglement in campus confraternities, substance abuse, and youth violence. This tumultuous background profoundly influenced his music, driving him to create songs that aimed at catalyzing positive change.
Buchi delved into the themes of his music, shaped by his experiences with gun-running and violence, including his recent publication titled 'My Weed And I,' which explores the impact of substance abuse on individuals.

In a desperate plea to a higher power, Buchi cried out to a God he scarcely knew, promising to dedicate his life to divine service if spared.
