I might win Grammy next year – Asake

Ahmed Ololade, the Nigerian Afrobeats sensation known as Asake, reveals that he isn't dwelling on his Grammy defeat to South Africa's Tyla.

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Asake discussed Tyla's 'Water' triumphing over his song 'Amapiano' and other Nigerian tracks in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys. Despite this outcome, Asake expressed that he doesn't view it as a loss.

He remains optimistic about receiving additional Grammy nominations and possibly clinching a win next year.

"It's not a defeat for me," he remarked regarding his Grammy loss. "I might even receive more nominations next year. Honestly, I wasn't overly fixated on it."

Regarding his mindset for his upcoming sophomore album, 'Work Of Art,' Asake shared, "People perceive me as quiet, so they don't truly know me. 'Work of Art' is a window for them to understand who I am. I want people to recognize my humanity; you can't ignore the passion within me."
